Executive Search: Commercial DirectorBusiness
A privately owned advanced technology company bringing patented, revolutionary, energy efficient compressors to multiple industrial end markets. Backed by the Carbon Trust and Innovate UK, this early stage, award winning business was disrupting traditional markets by bringing the best of UK industrial design and manufacturing.
Scope
We were mandated by the board to undertake a search for a board level Commercial Director to define the commercial strategy of the business and build a world-class sales organization from scratch. Responsible for managing and driving current and new commercial business activity, through appropriate sales and marketing activities, as well as development channel partnerships.
Process
We undertook extensive research in the UK and overseas, mapping suitable candidates across a variety of compressor and pump markets. The role required a candidate with right balance of corporate experience and discipline coupled with the self-motivation and entrepreneurial drive to make the shift to an early stage business at a critical pivot point in its commercial development. This was an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced Commercial professional to influence a high growth organisation by taking ownership of the global commercial strategy and driving this forward.
Outcome
We presented a short list of 10 candidates from diverse backgrounds, including overseas candidates, before working with the CEO to finalise their offer and support the preferred candidate through to their start date.
